Research Question

In class today we learned how to refine our research topics and some things i learned are to not have an opinionated topic. A research question should be about a specific idea that you can elaborate on to be able to get enough information to write a research paper on not just a question that can be answered in one paragraph. My group is researching the topic child obesity and each one of us is elaborating on each of the different factors associated with child obesity. My factor on obesity is how video games and other electronics are directly related to the growing rate of child obesity here in the United States. I believe this is a good research question because although it is very specific i can elaborate on this topic enough to get a good amount of information and inform the class on this major concern many Americans have.Video games and other electronics have been linked to obesity so i don't think i will have a problem getting information to support my research question. I have came up with a research topic that i believe is specific and will allow me to get a great amount of information. My question is: How are video games and other such electronics directly related to the growing rate of child obesity in the United States?

  1. Your research topic is very good. I think you have a good place to start and will build from there. Having a objective research question is very important. Also, when research for your topic make sure to use objective websites so that your information is not too basis.

Your area of research will allow you to get a good amount of research. It is not too broad and at the same time not too specific either.
